Gold Coast Marathon
A yearly event for the Gold Coast Airport is the Gold Coast Marathon run by the Queensland Events Gold Coast wholly owned by Queensland Government through Queensland events Corporation. The event showcases the Gold Coast providing an enjoyable and memorable time for spectators and those taking part in the race.

Taking place every year on the first Sunday in July since 1979 and has grown to have 14,000 entants from over 30 countries running and walking in the marathon, 10klm run , half marathon , 7.5klm walk and two junior dashes over 2.25klm and 4 klm. Starting in 1979 as a community project to get the local residents to become fitter it has grown to be an international event.
