About the airport
The Gold Coast Airport is located just on the NSW and Qld border, Tweed Heads and Coolangatta are only 3klm away, and the Pacific Ocean approx 1klm away. Gold Coast Airport or  "Coolangatta Airport", as it use to be called, is one of the 6th busiest airports in Australia now. Straddling one of the most popular tourist destinations in Australia, it has the added advantage of being within close proximity to Byron Bay to the south and Brisbane to the north.

The Gold Coast Airport  is 25km (about 25 minutes) by road to Surfers Paradise. It provides for flights from all major Australian capital cities, New Zealand and select Asian countries. Brisbane’s domestic and international airports are 95km (around 1 hour 40 minutes) by road to Broadbeach and provides for flights from all major Australian capital cities and all major international flights. Gold Coast Marathon
A yearly event for the Gold Coast Airport is the Gold Coast Marathon run by the Queensland Events Gold Coast wholly owned by Queensland Government through Queensland events Corporation. The event showcases the Gold Coast providing an enjoyable and memorable time for spectators and those taking part in the race.

Taking place every year on the first Sunday in July since 1979 and has grown to have 14,000 entants from over 30 countries running and walking in the marathon, 10klm run , half marathon , 7.5klm walk and two junior dashes over 2.25klm and 4 klm. Starting in 1979 as a community project to get the local residents to become fitter it has grown to be an international event.
